The popularity of 90s and 00s make-up over the last few years has led to a renewed interest in make-up products that people were using at the time. When it comes to lipsticks, however, many of the most iconic shades from that era were discontinued (RIP Chanel Vamp) or undergone such a change in colour that it is no longer even comparable (RIP MAC Spice) to the original.

Well it seems like MAC Cosmetics heard our desperate cries and saw our frenzied efforts to find dupes because the brand has just released a new collection of previously discontinued cult shades from the vault. Launched today, the Lipstick Bringbacks Collection, features eight re-released shades including ‘Fleshpot’, which the brand says is the most requested discontinued shade ever and is the lipstick equivalent of putting concealer on your lips – for anyone who wants to bring back 2004.

There is also ‘Bubbles’, an iridescent warm white for people who want the Claudia Winkleman look; and ‘Haku’, the ultimate Y2K metallic silver, as well as the bronzy ‘Chintz’, mauve ‘Hot Gossip’, peachy ‘Shanghai Spice’, violet ‘Up the Amp’ and teddy brown ‘Double Shot’. The collection celebrates MAC’s 40th anniversary, as well as marking National Lipstick Day. It’s a limited-edition release too, so be quick: once they’re gone, who knows when they’ll be back.

On social media the collection has proved popular, with many fans already calling for these shades to become part of the permanent collection again, alongside requests for other discontinued products to be brought back, such as the ‘Stone’ lip liner, another 90s classic. In the meantime, for anyone looking for a dupe of the OG MAC Spice, make-up artist and vintage beauty expert Erin Parsons recently recommended the MOB Beauty lip liner in the shade ‘1990’ which recreates the original formula.
