Forget a Christmas single, the only carol I’ve been singing this year is “I’m pegging that man at the back of the bus.” Dazed cover star Ceechynaa’s third single, “Peggy”, is just as explicit as you would expect, challenging rap’s toxic masculinity over a UK drill-jersey house crossover beat. Elsewhere, the UK’s best-kept secret, Rian Brazil, continues his journey into the frontiers of undefined sonics with the release of “Hey!”, and Japanese rap legend Yuki Chiba (FKA KOHH), one half of Megan Thee Stallion’s bilingual summer banger “Mamushi”, releases his debut album under the new alias. 

Also released this month is Sky Ferreira’s emotionally-contorted Babygirl soundtrack contribution “Leash”, and “Sugar Water Cyanide” by Rebecca Black – yet further proof that the “Friday” child star is an unsung hyperpop hero.
